Valentines is here again- time for chocolate, wine and over-indulgence and most of all romance... well that is my idea anyway.

Paris is just about as romantic as it gets, and here are a few ideas of how I would spend the day with my loved one.

Where to stay:

Hôtel Lancaster

7, rue de Berri

Metro - George V or Franklin D Roosevelt
Phone: 01 40 76 40 76

Pershing Hall

49 rue Pierre Charron

Metro - Georges V or Franklin D Roosevelt
Phone: 01 58 36 58 00

These are two of the most beautiful exclusive places in Paris- might as well splash out eh?

What to do:

After an undoubtedly lavish breakfast I would walk as much as possible- both these hotels are near the Champs Elysees so I would head down to the river and over to the  Rodin Museum. The gardens are exquisite and if that can’t get those romantic feelings going- well I would start packing my bag to get on the plane home.

After that I would suggest a light lunch- don’t want to wreck the appetite for this evening so grab a baguette where you can.

After all that walking why not head towards the Latin Quarter and imbibe some of that lucretian charm- a glass of wine in a Bistro- just to remind yourself you are in Paris- The Lutetia Hotel has a great bar and is one of the most beautiful of the Left Bank hotels- you could stay here next time…

Now you are in the Latin Quarter in the cinema heart of Paris where you will find a range of wonderful art house cinemas. They show old romantic comedy reruns - a bit of Bogey or Lauren Bacall - check out the site www.allocine.fr or pick up a Pariscope to check the schedule.

Now I have got you in the mood - just need to get you out of the hotel and off for dinner.

First of all a Martini at the Ritz. This is about as lavish as it gets- the elegant Place Vendome gives off a golden hue and is one of the most beautiful ‘Places’ in Paris.

Now for a bite to eat- I have a penchant for seafood and oysters and since there is an R in the month of February then you can eat as many as you like… My favourite seafood restaurant is Restaurant Garnier. If you don’t fancy seafood then there is a wide selection of high quality brasserie style food. This is a stunning belle époque- recently restored to its former glory. The food is spectacular- the wine list- exciting- but then you’ll be finding it hard to concentrate on that eh. The service is gracious and low key so you can feel at ease in your surroundings while enjoying all that romance.

Now if you haven’t got anyone in mind I’m free!!!
